Students from Years 11 and 12 – and guests from Bedales School – attended our International University Conference hosted here at Embley to gain an insight into studying overseas.
After a key-note introduction entitled ‘Why study abroad?’ the students then attended a carousel of presentations by representative institutions from across Europe and North America. Sessions included a focus on what the culture of study would involve in each institution as well as a specific talk dedicated to studying health sciences overseas.
Afterwards student attended a university fair, which gave them the opportunity to ask individual questions about the opportunities available and a chance to find out about application processes and the financial implications of studying abroad.
Mr Shields, the joint acting head of sixth said of the event “this was a fantastic opportunity for students to broaden their horizons and seriously consider higher education study from across the world. To find out how straight-forward many of the application processes are and to also discover that many of the courses across Europe are offered in English would have undoubtedly left our students feeling more confident about their choices In the future. We would encourage any students who wish to find out more to come and speak with Mrs Cumpstey or I about these opportunities if they would like to know more detail as we can put them in touch with a variety of contacts. We were proud of how the students conducted themselves and of the quality of questions that were asked.”
