Year 10 students from Embley and various other schools attended our Taking Maths Further Conference in association with the Advanced Maths Support Programme. Paige in Year 10 provides an overview of the day…
During the day, the students experienced three fantastic workshops: ‘Amazing Cryptography’, ‘Trees, Towns and Bubbles’ and ‘Risk it for a biscuit’. This also included a fascinating lecture about a female mathematician called Ada Lovelace.
Each workshop was designed to encourage every student to get involved and to understand the different types of topics to study in Maths at AS/A Level. With chocolate bars for prizes, the whole day was exciting and enjoyable as students worked their way through the challenges they were set with determination and a smile on their faces.
‘I enjoyed the cryptography session the best as I found it very useful and I gained a lot of knowledge from it’ – Year 10 student
