This week, pupils from Embley unveiled an art trail in the grounds of the Prep School. The trail comprises a series of art installations themed around recycling and has involved participation from children in every year group from Nursery to Year 6.
The work was created with the help of local artist, Nadine Collinson, who ran several workshops at the school. Under Nadine’s direction and support, pupils from Years 4, 5 and 6 created an underwater scene featuring an array of exotic fish. Plastic bottle tops and bottles, buttons, CDs, fabric remnants, old bicycle parts and leftover roofing materials donated by parents, staff and pupils are just some of the materials that have been re-used and transformed into colourful artworks.
Nadine commented: “All the children have been so enthusiastic and I was very impressed with the standard of their work and their imaginative ideas.”
