Next week, pupils from Years 6 and 7 are travelling to London to take part in a unique event that will feature over 1,500 pupils from 40 schools across the country performing Carmen.

The event will take place at the Copper Box Arena in London’s Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park and the performance is the culmination of a year-long project led by United Learning to introduce its pupils to opera.

Working in partnership with the Royal Opera House, the Voices Foundation and the English Pocket Opera Company, the aim of the project is to encourage pupils not only to listen to and understand opera, but to participate in and perform it.

HCS Summer Concert

An audience of over 100 people comprising parents, siblings and staff filled our Performing Arts Centre this week to listen to the Summer Concert which starred pupils from Years 6 – 12 as well as a member of the teaching staff!

In addition to some wonderful individual and group performances, the school’s String Group, Flute Choir and Jazz Group gave some rousing renditions ranging from classical and pop music to traditional folk songs.
