Congratulations to our ski race team who took part in the Boarding Schools Association (BSA) Artemis Pila Schools Challenge. Embley came 21st out of 55 schools and were ranked the highest newcomer in the competition. Individual highlights include Niamh (Year 9) coming 4th in the U14 girls and Isla achieving 5th in the U10 girls.

The competition attracts skiers aged between 7 and 17 from schools and ski clubs across Europe, with in excess of 500 young people taking part this year. For the Embley team, it was their first alpine race event. Some team members had only been on snow three or four times before the event.

Our sincere thanks go to our wonderful team of students and to the parents who accompanied the party to Italy. They were there to support the teams: cooking, chasing, caring, sweeping racers from the finish line, driving and navigating and their energy, support, professionalism and team spirit was tremendous. Thanks also go to Embley staff Mr Leather, Miss Walker and Mr Churchill.

Congratulations to the HCS Skiers who were extremely dedicated to pre-Pila race training at Snowtrax dry slope and to getting ski-fit in the school fitness suite. It certainly paid off.

It was a fitting end to a great season for the Embley ski race teams and the beginnings of the school’s freestyle training group, so watch this space…
