It was a pleasure to welcome pianist, composer and arranger Beatrice Nicholas to Embley as part of a programme of events to showcase the school’s new Steinway Model O. Parents and members of staff were enchanted as they listened to Beatrice perform a range of romantic and classical piano pieces. In addition Beatrice accompanied Embley music scholar soloists with arrangements in flute, viola and voice.
Beatrice is an extremely talented British pianist playing repertoire from Bach to the present day and her music engagements have taken her to a number of prestigious venues around the UK and beyond, including the Royal Festival Hall, the Royal Opera House and the London Coliseum. Consequently it was a great privilege that Beatrice was able to deliver an afternoon student workshop to Embley musicians ahead of the concert, which undoubtedly inspired all those who took part.
After the concert Matthew Morgan, Director of Music, commented: “We were delighted to host an evening with Beatrice; such an amazing talent and I can’t think of a better way to inspire both our musicians and parents alike. I can’t wait to host the next event of this kind.”
