At the start of the year, we introduced a programme of informative talks giving Embley parents the opportunity to find out more about how to support their children through the different stages of their academic and emotional development.
The series began earlier this term with a talk on ‘Understanding and Supporting Mental Health in Young People’ by Sarah Ashworth from the Charlie Waller Memorial Trust. Over coming months we have the following parent workshops scheduled:
Revision & Study Skills: Learning how to learn – Wednesday 25 March
Our Deputy Head, Mr Picardo, will talk to parents about how they can support their children at home with revision and study using strategies that have shown to be effective from the perspective of neuroscience and cognitive psychology.
Safe, Confident & Considerate Digital Citizens – Monday 4 May
We will be welcoming Simon Finch, a teacher and guide on online safety, to provide an informative and engaging session that will help parents feel empowered to ensure their children are safe, confident and considerate digital citizens.
Managing Change Positively – Tuesday 29 September
Lorraine Lee, a professional parent and child development specialist, will be running a workshop that will discuss how parents can help children manage changes that are out of their control and how to ensure any disruption does not affect their emotions or self esteem too significantly. We will also look at how to make sure your parental emotions regarding change do not transfer onto your children.
All Embley parents are invited to all talks, irrespective of their child’s age. We look forward to welcoming you. Parents should email firstname.lastname@example.org to confirm their attendance to each event.
