A team of Year 5 & 6 Embley girls travelled to Bryanston for the IAPS U11 girls’ hockey qualifiers. With a strong pool of contenders, the girls battled their way through four matches during the morning. In fourth place, the girls progressed to the plate competition.

The girls were both excited and nervous as they entered the knock-out stages. Their first match against Port Regis ended with no goals scored and the match went to penalties. Fabulous shooting and another awesome performance from goalkeeper Millie sent Embley through to the next round.

Another tough match against Chafyn Grove resulted in an empty score sheet so the match went straight to penalties. The Embley team had grown in confidence and both Alisa and Hannah scored goals from their first attempts. Chafyn Grove missed two shots; Embley were through to the finals!

In the final match against Monkton Prep, the girls played a great first half with Holly scoring to take Embley into the lead at half-time. They continued to play some fabulous defensive hockey which prevented the opposition from scoring. The final whistle blew and Embley were the plate winners!

Head of Prep Sport, Miss Smith, commented after the match: “We are extremely proud of our Embley team.”
