Beyond the Classroom

We make the outside very much part of our classrooms and whatever the weather, it’s always an adventure. Our 130 acres of parkland and woodland, and our dedicated Nursery Explorer Garden, offer plenty of space for our children to spread their wings and develop a love of nature.

Children climb, explore and make mud pies in our Explorer Garden. While in the school’s broader grounds, they grow vegetables, enjoy treasure hunts, look for minibeasts, climb trees, build dens, search for wildlife around the pond and explore everything the wonderful environment has to offer.

We take our phonics outside and go on letter and word hunts as well as looking for numbers around the grounds in Mathematics lessons. Our children show fascination, curiosity, a willingness to have a go, wonder and awe at what they discover.
