The Geography Department is proud to introduce Earth Week which will run from Monday 25th – Friday 29th March and encompass a range of activities and lessons that focus on climate change, bio-diversity and conservation.
Examples of activities include: baking earth-themed cupcakes in Food Technology, making bug hotels, designing and creating t-shirts, planting and studying nature-inspired poetry.
At the end of the week there will be the grand finale – Embley ‘Earth Hour’ with the aim of using as little electricity as possible over lunchtime. ‘Earth Hour’ is held around the world – this year it is on Saturday 30th March from 8.30-9.30pm. Millions of people globally switch off their lights for the hour. It is the world’s largest display of support for action to protect the planet and last year in the UK 10 million people took part.
