Our A level students recently undertook their Gold Duke of Edinburgh training in Wales and encountered some challenging weather conditions. As Alex, Clara, Molly, Taylor and Tom set out from school at 6:30am on a Saturday morning, ready for the three hour journey ahead, they were all excited for the day’s walking and training for their expedition. However when they arrived in the Brecon Beacons, they encountered every weather event from rainbows to gale force winds and snow blizzards. In the evening, they went out again, this time in the dark, to do some night navigation in order to learn different skills to use during poor visibility. At the end, they enjoyed the spaghetti bolognese and chocolate pudding in the hostel after the night navigation!
