Embley’s Riding Club has a range of riders from Year 5 to Year 11, from absolute beginners who have made excellent progress to more advanced riders who have been focusing on improving their jumping alongside other technical improvements. The camaraderie that has developed between the students is fantastic to witness, with all offering each other support and encouragement.

To develop our Riding Club further, we will be entering some team events in the near future so that students from the Riding Club and other students who pursue equestrian sports outside of school can come together to represent the school. If your child would be interested in taking part, you please complete a questionnaire by using the following link- http://bit.ly/HCSEquestrian.

In addition to the school’s Riding Club, there have been a number of recent individual equestrian successes.

Tristan qualifies for the National Hunter Trial Championship Finals

Tristan (Year 9), riding Hollyhatch Hennessy, won his 90cm section at Mendip Plains Equestrian and qualified for the National Hunter Trial Championship Finals in September 2019.

Chloe competes in her first national show

Chloe (Year 8) had a great time at her first national show and managed five out of six double clear rounds. She desperately wanted to make it six but at the 11th out of 12 fences on the last round she clipped a pole resulting in four faults, however, overall she did fantastically well.

Callum’s team come second in National Champions

Sixth form student Callum and his horse Barney represented New Forest Riding Club as part of the junior team who qualified for the BRC SEIB Junior Novice Dressage Winter Championships helping his team to victory to become the National Champions (with Callum coming 2nd in the Novice test individually).

The pair also represented the club at the Equi-Theme Intermediate Winter Championships at Bury Farm Equestrian in Leighton Buzzard where Callum again came second in the Novice, with a great result in his first elementary.

Earlier in the season Callum competed at the NSEA Eventing Championships and he also won the dressage pairs at the BRC NAF Championships in Lincoln, winning his arena in the Novice and helping the team to third place.
