Students from Year 10 to Year 13 enjoyed an enriching day at the Tate Modern art gallery in London recently. After admiring the views (and safely navigating the blustery winds on the Millennium bridge) the group met their guides for an enlightening 90 minute tour of the gallery, exploring new ways of looking at and learning from art.

As practicing contemporary artists who also work at the gallery, our tour guides challenged our students’ perceptions about the art they saw. The group engaged with the art, culture and ideas in the gallery and voiced their thoughts and opinions in unique and diverse ways. The conversations they had were unpredictable and encouraged the students to intellectually question and form opinions about contemporary art.

We look forward to seeing how this experience enriches and influences the students’ GCSE and A Level work over the coming weeks and months.
