Embley’s co-curricular scuba diving club started with a splash under the watchful eye of Embley’s qualified in-house diving instructor and working in partnership with Island Divers.
Students from Year 9 to Year 11 have signed up for their PADI Open Water Diver course to enable them to dive around the globe. After four weeks in the school pool learning basic diving skills the students will complete their open water dives at Andark Lake and Vobster Quay. They will also undertake a period of study and take their final exam. On successful completion they will qualify as Open Water or Junior Open Water Divers.
Embley’s scuba diving instructor Tim Leather commented: “We have built a strong partnership with our friends from Island Divers. It is always a great privilege to work with them to introduce our students to the underwater world. The course can be challenging at times but is always great fun and literally opens the doors to a host of new experiences. I’m sure our students will enjoy the learning journey and look forward to enjoying many years of safe and exciting diving.”
