This year, we are excited to be presenting Chris Bush’s contemporary play, The Changing Room, at the Performing Arts Centre in the Senior School. The Senior Drama Company have been rehearsing the production since the start of the Spring term and have been at the centre of the creative process, by collaborating throughout rehearsals and bringing their own staging ideas to individual scenes. The performance incorporates moments of physical theatre to aid their storytelling, inspired by live theatre productions they have seen and their study of curriculum Drama, and features direction by our A Level Drama Scholars.
The Changing Room is a lyrical piece about existing on the cusp of growing up. Are we teenagers? Are we children? What are we? It’s about bodies in flux and perspectives shifting; knowing change is coming but not what that change will look like. Set in and around a swimming pool, The Changing Room follows a group of teens full of excitement, impatience and uncertainty, each with their own secret worries and desires for what comes next.
The performances will take place on: Thursday 19 March, 6.30pm and Friday 20 March, 7.00pm. The running time is approximately 50 minutes and the age recommendation is 11+. Refreshments will be available in the Performing Arts Centre before the performance commences; please note that the bar is cash only.
Tickets are now available to book online, click here to book. Tickets are free but we are asking for a suggested £5.00 per ticket contribution towards our charity fundraising (please visit https://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/EmbleyDramaScholars to find out more about the charities we are supporting).
We look forward to seeing you there.
