Last Friday, a group of Embley Drama students attended the Mayflower Theatre’s Creative Careers Conference in Southampton. Aimed at school and college students from Years 9 to 13, the conference provided an opportunity to gain more knowledge about the creative industries and an insight into the jobs available within this field.
Students thoroughly enjoyed engaging with an array of industry professionals and discussing pathways into careers in the Arts, covering topics such as marketing & media, make-up, sound & lighting, theatre making, cultural heritage and stage management.
Students also participated in practical workshops on theatre making, technical theatre and using digital and social media to market events and performances.
Embley’s Head of Drama, Mrs Morgan, commented: “The day provided our students with a valuable insight into a variety of job roles and the routes in to careers and they returned to school enthused about developing their own performance work.”
