On Tuesday 24 September, Year 6 travelled to ‘The Living Rainforest’ near Newbury for an amazing walk in the Amazon. The trip linked to the pupils’ Science, Geography, English and Art work this term.

All the children participated in a guided tour of the rainforest with a talk on ‘Amazing Adaptations’ which gave them an opportunity to see at first hand some of the flora and fauna of the Amazon. The tour helped with the children’s English work because they could all imagine what the characters in The Explorer by Katherine Rundell would have experienced in their struggle for survival. There was also a session for the children to sketch some of the wonderful foliage and animals of the rainforest to complement their work in Art.

Year 6 returned to school full of knowledge about life in the Amazon.
