It was a busy first weekend back for boarding with over 35 boarders experiencing ‘Donutting’ at Alpine Snow Sports Centre on Saturday; some were excited from the start, others were nervous about their first time on the slopes but after one go were hooked and by the end we could hardly prise them off! On Sunday, the boys and girls signed up to go and watch London Irish vs Leicester Tigers at the Madejski Stadium and even got to meet a mascot. It was great fun, even if Sir wasn’t too happy with the end result!
On Wednesdays, it’s Boarders’ Choice meal which meant that our special Nando’s themed family supper was back by popular demand and was wonderfully prepared by the Embley Catering team. Boarders dared to try their ‘wing roulette’ spiced sharers, houmous and halloumi nibbles for starters, followed by cornflake coated and peri marinaded chicken with chips and ‘macho peas’, finished off perfectly with ice cream and sprinkles for dessert.
After filling our stomachs, it was time to feed our minds and souls with a stress-relieving, self-soothing slime activity for Wellbeing Wednesdays; we learnt how to make slime from scratch using PVA glue, contact lens solution, baking powder, shaving foam, water, coloured gels and glitter. We each got to design our own, from pastel to neon or even Harry Potter house themed colours. We could squidge, stretch, bounce and blow bubbles in our slime, which made lots of us laugh and feel really relaxed!
